Best places to buy Philips Avent Newborn Starter Set

I bought a bunch of these bottle before I had my daughter, thinking these would be the best bottles as per mostly all my friends encourages me to get(no gassy babies with this bottle). However, i noticed after a few weeks of breastfeeding more often (i mixed fed my baby when she was born, 60% bottle/40% breastmilk, i was still on the stage of learning to breastfeed that's why she had a lot of bottle feeding that time) my daughter wouldn't latch on to the nipple (my milk wasn't enough, need the bottle occasionally), my daughter find the nipple too firm, it doesn't feel like my breast. I checked another brand(a lot softer nipple), and it works well for her. I am still hoping she'll be able to use them once she get older though (there's a bunch of them, it would be a big waste if she won't). So (...), buy a couple of different bottles and see which one your newborn prefers. Yes, babies are very picky about the nipples.

My son is 7 months old and was a gas filled newborn. I used Playtex VentAire until now. Very good bottles, but when your baby is walking and pulling up on things who has time to spend on bottles. You have a bottom plastic part that has a seal that you put on then the regular top ring, nipple and cap. Lots of parts...and no time. I switched and have had no problem with leaks from the Avent bottles. I tried almost every other bottle to find one that he liked and had less parts. But as far as colic goes no clue on the Avent. A good bottle and no leaks for me.

I used these with my daughter and *HATED* them, that was almost 5 years ago. No matter what I tried I couldn't get them to stop leaking. Now that I have my son who's almost 5 mos, and Avent products are now made by Philips they have come a long way. I've noticed they no longer leak at the slightest over tightening like they previously did. It's also very easy to avoid the over tightening too.

After the bottles come out of the dishwasher I put the water in them so they're practically ready to go. Run the nipples under water then attach to the bottle watching the ring/nipple. The nipple will stop and grip the edge of the bottle, once this happens the nipple is on and won't leak. Once you get around to using the bottles when you will notice that when you go to tighten the nipple/ring again it will stop at that point and there are no leaks. Even my husband can get these bottles right on the first shot and he overtightens EVERYTHING!

If you're pregnant or are considering these buy one and practice assembling it. We switched to these from the Ventaire because 1) my son didn't like the textured ring on the nipple, and 2) there were to many parts to get together in a hurry.
