Ok, here's my pros and cons of the two Major Contenders for best double electric pump. The two I'll review were the two I used for my daughters: Avent ISIS iQ Duo Double Electric Breast Pump for my first (shortly after it came out) and was pumping for 9 months, every workday, 2-4 times a day. For my second, I went with the Medela Freestyle, and was pumping every workday, 1-2 times, for 6 months.

Features common to both: Both pumps are adjustable in strength and frequency of pumping action, and both can be customized with soft breastshields (these come standard with the Avent IQ). Both are now BPA-free (though when I used the Avent IQ Duo, it was not, but Medela has always been BPA-free). Both can also be used as a single pump if you want to, for example, pump one side while your baby feeds on the other (I never managed this, since daughter would get distracted, but it seems like an efficient use of time). Both come with a carry bag, basic bottles, cold bags and cool packs. Both are compact, and look reasonably presentable (the Avent more so), if you forget to tuck it into a desk drawer before a meeting.

Features specific to the Medela Freestyle:

Hands-free use: The freestyle earned its name because it can be clipped onto your belt, and the horns used hands-free. Unlike previous Medela pumps which required further attachments and Medela-brand bras, these can be used with most brands and styles of nursing bras. HOWEVER, I found the hands-free system to be uncomfortable. It is possible that this was a feature of being relatively well-endowed (around 36E/F, while breastfeeding), but in the end, it didn't prove useful for me. However, I still appreciated the compactness and cord-free operation, especially while my pumping situation at work was influx. Cord-free/rechargeable: In keeping with the hands-free, it wouldn't be much help if you needed to plug in. So the Freestyle can be charged and then used for a while before needing to be charged again. I don't remember how frequently I charged it, but it was probably after several hours worth of pumping. Travel-ready: In addition, it works in 110-220V sockets, and comes with a variety of travel adaptors. Adjustable strength/speed: The Freestyle has adjustments you can make: to the strength and speed of pumping action. These are controlled by up and down buttons on the main device, and have a range of about 5 settings. There is also a "letdown" button which you can push after your milk starts flowing, and it will speed things up and intensify them by about 1 notch on each.

Features specific to the Avent Isis IQ Duo:

Intuitive strength-speed controls: The major winner for the Avent IQ Duo is its intuitive control system. It works a bit like cruise control in your car! The controls are in the powered pump horn, rather than on the main pump unit. The powered horn looks a bit like a regular, manual pump, and you can use it like one, except that it will control both horns. But, you pump at the frequency and intensity you like by squeezing the lever as frequently or far as you want. This is especially helpful for stimulating letdown. Once letdown is achieved, adjust your pumping rate/intensity to whatever feels right that day, then press the blue button and the pump will continued at this setting until you change it again. To change it, what do you do? Just start squeezing the handle again to regain "manual control" and set the blue button again afterwards. It doesn't get easier than this. Better storage bags: Ok, this is definitely tangential to the main point of choosing a good breast pump, but the bottle storage bags that came with the Avent Duo were just easier to use than the Medela's. They're two tubular, thinsulate lined bags which fit one bottle each (two if you squeeze) and soft gel packs. The size of the bags just fit inside my laptop bag or backpack better than the large Medela cube. (On the other hand, Medela's travel bag was better than Avent's--smaller, and easy to fold up if I pack the Medela into something else.) Soft breastshields come standard: The Avent comes with soft breastshields as included. They also have these little bumps in them that are supposed to help stimulate letdown. I'm not sure if they did, but I do prefer the soft breastshields to the hard ones.

What's the bottom line? Well, for my second daughter, the Medela Freestyle was right since we were moving from the US to the UK, and doing a lot of travelling. On the other hand, with my first daughter, I pumped longer and found it a less onerous task in general. This was for a number of reasons, but I wonder if the ease of pumping with the: Avent ISIS iQ Duo contributed.

I would recommend these for short-term use only, buying them with the thought in mind that you will one day throw them away because they wear out quickly and leak.

If you plan on nursing and using Avent bottles, this is a great way to "transition" your tot into using a cup or another version of sippy cup (I recommend Playtex once your child has mastered holding a larger sippy cup- PLAYTEX WILL NEVER LEAK!). This Avent Magic Cup can be used with Avent nipples, etc.

It is not the easiest to clean, but it is possible.

Eventually, this Avent Magic Cup WILL leak.

After using the ISIS manual for a few months, I was quite confident that the ISIS IQ Duo would be a better product for me to use when I'm pumping at work. It does sounds very attractive to have an electric-powered pump that also functions as a manual pump when you just can't find power options. However when I opened up the box, I couldn't locate the parts for the manual pump! and there were obviously no spare parts included at all! what the...?

It would have been 5-stars if Philips Avent delivers what they promised. Cos when I flipped through the instruction manual, they conveniently REMOVED the part where it says the pump can be used as a manual pump therefore they don't even include the manual parts anymore without telling anyone! I wished I could have known this earlier and I would have went ahead with purchasing a Medela PIS instead.. Such a big disappointment.

UPDATE on 1st June 2010:
I was able to get the manual parts from the Philips Avent guys at my local area after I probe them about these parts that was listed on their website. Even so, it was after I pressed them hard and kept askng them for an answer on why they lst these parts on their website and then didnt include it in the box.

I bought a bunch of these bottle before I had my daughter, thinking these would be the best bottles as per mostly all my friends encourages me to get(no gassy babies with this bottle). However, i noticed after a few weeks of breastfeeding more often (i mixed fed my baby when she was born, 60% bottle/40% breastmilk, i was still on the stage of learning to breastfeed that's why she had a lot of bottle feeding that time) my daughter wouldn't latch on to the nipple (my milk wasn't enough, need the bottle occasionally), my daughter find the nipple too firm, it doesn't feel like my breast. I checked another brand(a lot softer nipple), and it works well for her. I am still hoping she'll be able to use them once she get older though (there's a bunch of them, it would be a big waste if she won't). So (...), buy a couple of different bottles and see which one your newborn prefers. Yes, babies are very picky about the nipples.

- This sterilizer runs on electricity. I am mentioning because there
are some on the market where you need to microwave. No more boiling
bottles on the stove :)
- The principle is simple, you fill water, electricity heats and

I used Avent with our first child and liked the brand, so am using the BPA free for our second. I haven't had the issues with leaking that others have mentioned--I think it's key *not* to over-tighten the bottles. The nice surprise about this set is the formula holder. I thought it was just a silly extra to drive up the price, but it's been very handy for overnight feedings. Instead of keeping an extra can of formula upstairs and portioning it out as we "sleepwalk" through feedings, we pre-measure out just the right amount into the little holder and use that to make bottles correctly in the middle of the night. I'm sure it will be a nice little snack cup when our son gets older too.

I honestly have to wonder what the manufacturer was thinking when they made these things so small. I am not a very large breasted woman (a 38 C to be exact) and I found these things to be too little. As long as I was relatively inactive all was fine but the minute I started doing something and they shifted even the slightest bit I would be leaking all over the place because they really don't offer too much coverage. And sleeping in these little things? Forget it! Your bed is bound to be a wet mess by the time you wake up.

Add to this, the fact that the adhesive strip is placed at the top of the pad and you can see that their design needs a little work. Why didn't they put it in the middle? That seems most logical to me.

So, all in all, if you can get them centered and keep them from moving then they will be pretty absorbant. BUT with a little nursling I think you've got enough worries without having to worry about embarassing wet spots on your shirt.

We the 4oz and 9oz bottles for our newborn. When we first used them, the bottles kept leaking every time we shook them. During feedings, milk would also leak out from the caps. I checked their website and it suggested that we either screw the cap on tighter or don't screw it too tight to see if the milk still leaks...needless to say, my husband regards avent as the most hated brand in baby products...damn things wouldn't stop leaking...my sister got us a born free gift set and at first it seemed tedious to wash so many damn parts, but what a difference. The born free bottles do not leak and they do not give our baby gas...spend a little more and get a better product...oh, we also tried Dr. Brown but the bottles are too long and narrow and too opaque and contain too many small parts to wash...hated those bottles too!

We have had some issues with the bottles leaking, but nothing that couldn't be fixed. There is a small trick in that you need to wipe the nipple, the cover and the bottle opening dry before putting it all together and of course don't over tighten it. It seems like lot of hassle, but reading reviews on other bottle manufacturers, its probably not that bad. FYI... we didn't try any other manufacturer.

I will say that we use Earth's Best Organic formula + breast milk with these bottles, and I wouldn't consider our son to be colicky. In last 3 weeks, he has thrown up maybe twice. Surely some credit goes to the bottle design.

I like this bottle system very much. However, I must mention that it did not work well for my preemie daughter initially as the #1 nipple seemed to have too fast of a flow for her. She had a weak suckle and was a bit uncoordinated at first. After about a month, the lactation consultant I was going to suggested to switch from the playtex slow flow nipple back the Avent as it is a little more stiff so that she could work on strengthening her suckle more. At this time, she did much better with it and we like it much better than the Playtex Drop-Ins. We have not had issues with nipple confusion with the Avent, either.

You must be careful not to tighten the ring too much or it will make the vacuum seal faulty resulting in leaks. Just tighten it to feel slight resistance.

I gave this system four stars because I would like to see a slower flow nipple for the reasons I mentioned above.

I had to switch to bottles because of low milk production and having to supplement soon after my son was born. I love the look and feel of avent bottles but my son has a small mouth and was unable to get a good suction on this nipple. He would leak milk everywhere or squirt it at us, it was very messy. Therefore I had to switch very quickly to playtex standard bottles.

I also don't recommend buying many 4oz bottles, my son drank less than four ounces for only about 6 weeks and he was up to 5 ounces, and it is a pain to have to fix two bottles.

!1: Best Buy As a working mom of a 4 month old that is exclusively breastfed, I feel like I am constantly on the pump & I'll be honest, pumping sucks. Every once in awhile I figure there has to be a better way so I pull out my Lansinoh double electric pump, give it a try, and then put it away again for a couple weeks. The manual Lansinoh is far better imo. It really is SO easy to set up & clean and it's much quieter & more readily portable than the double electric Lansinoh I have. Also, I find the electric pump, even on lower suction settings (which ends up taking forever), really makes my nipples sore.

While I'm certain there's not a pump out there that I'd love (really, who enjoys pumping?), this one gets 5 stars for it's ease of use and portability. On occasion I will pump for a few minutes after I feed my daughter from the same breast to empty (or pump the other breast). This adds to my stash of milk slowly but is far less dreadful than sitting down to pump both breasts (which I still do at work) and this is where the manual pump comes in really handy. There's no way I would pull out and hook up to the electric pump to just pump for a few minutes.

Also, the manual pump is a godsend when you finally sit down to pump and baby starts crying...just put the pump down & tend to baby or walk over with pump in hand if it's something simple like their pacifier fell out of their mouth. :) on Sale!

I used the original Avent bottles with my first baby in 2004 and absolutely LOVED THEM! I was disappointed with my second baby that they were not offering a BPA free alternative. I even called the company to inquire and was told that they stuck by the safety of their bottles and had no plans to make a BPA free line. Imagine my surprise a few months later when I saw these on the store shelf. I guess pressure from consumers forced them to have a change of heart. Which leads me to believe that these were massed produced with little or no attention to detail/design. These bottles leaked horribly!! Some people have complained about the original ones leaking, but I have never had problems with them. I even tried every helpful hint I found by reviewers here...with no luck. My bottles drip like a faucet from underneath the rim. After feeding the baby and sitting the bottle upright the formula drips from the nipple straight down and out from underneath the rim. I know with all Avent bottles there is a "science" to tightening them, but they need to head back to the drawing board with these.

All was not lost though...at least the set included a bottle brush and dispenser! I have to say the bottle brush is great...it won't work (go down far enough) in the more narrow Dr. Brown's bottles. But, I have found that it makes an excellent laundry brush. The bristles are soft enough not to damage garments but rough enough to gently work out stains.

The formula/snack dispenser is the best on the market. It's great to just throw in the diaper bag and go. Unlike other brands the sectioned divider is removable and when using it as a formula dispenser the powder doesn't spill from one compartment to another. Hopefully, Avent will once again return to the great quality bottle it once was!

I use these in the morning with the first feeding because I leak on whatever side my daughter is not nursing from. I use them more so the milk doesn't go to waste than to protect my clothing. If I used them for protection of clothing or for sore nipples I would not have rated them as high as I did. First, they are not made for really large breasts. They set nicely over the nipple, but certainly do not cover much more than the areola area. If I were to wear these out, my breasts would look like large mushrooms. They are nice in the privacy of my own home, though. The shell that fits on the breast is comfortable. It is easy to clean and soft. I would recommend these for the use of collecting leaking milk while pumping and feeding only. I would not recommend these to wear out when you are going to miss a feeding and know you will leak. Wear disposable pads. Also, I wouldn't recommend them for the sore nipple problem either if you are large breasted.

We've tried the Playtex drop-ins and Vent-Aire models as well. Out of the three we've returned to the Avent time and time again. The drop-ins (both ring and sleeve) are nice but the nipples are very slow. There's nothing really wrong with them but just not for us. Now the Vent-Aire is a different story. Too many parts, leaks and they don't vent where they're supposed to. Avent on the other hand vent properly, DON'T LEAK and will feed the baby as quickly as humanly possible. This last point sold it for us. Imagine a 3am feeding which would you rather have: a drop-in model that take FOREVER to feed, a leaky bottle that vents improperly or one that will feed your lazy eater in less than 30 minutes (15 in most cases)? The bottles have three issues:

1. They don't seal easily, which means they might leak. This is especially an issue when you have a hungry newborn in one arm who wants his milk right away.

2. The bottles change color - I don't know if everyone will experience this, but some of our bottles changed to a brownish/blackish clearn tinge after we used the Avent microwave disinfecting/cleansing system.

3. You have to buy a different nib every month in the beginning - while others such as Dr. Brown's has the same nib for the first 3 months. It doesn't seem to add value to me to have to buy a different nib regularly.

I had a Medela Pump In Style Original that I used for about 3 months before it suddenly seemed to lose suction/power and I could no longer pump as easily as I once had. I was already pleased with all the Avent products I had - bottles, pacifiers, the microwave steam sterilizer, and the bottle warmer - the Avent breast pump seemed to get good reviews and I liked the idea of pumping straight into the feeding bottles, so I took the plunge. It *is* a lot of money, but so is any other dual electronic breast pump. I only wish now that I had bought this one first so I wouldn't have wasted money on the Medela.

I've been using this pump for two weeks now and I just hope it's lifespan is longer than the Medela because I absolutely LOVE this pump!

*** UPDATE *** It is now March 1, 2010. I've been using the Avent pump for nine months now and I still love it just as much as I did when I first got it. The connection between the hose and the pump motor housing is the only thing that has worn out - it's a little plug like a telephone jack and the little tab broke off. It still works, but I can see the potential for it to come loose during a pumping session so I plan on ordering a replacement before it actually becomes a problem. Based on others' comments, I know I have to order it straight from Philips and it can take a while. But other than that, it still works great, it's still in great condition, I haven't needed to fix or replace anything else, and I still LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!

Compared to the Medela PiS the Avent Isis Duo is:

The Medela was like a piston engine. One of the ways I new it was losing power was because it was no longer as noisy as it used to be. The Avent pump is MUCH quieter. If I wanted to, I could probably pump right in my cubicle and no one would be the wiser.

Comfortable
-----------
Again, the Medela was like a piston engine. I felt like a cow hooked up to an automatic milking machine and it certainly didn't feel like my baby nursing. All the suction was concentrated on the nipples, not the areolae and, while not necessarily painful, it wasn't comfortable. It was supposed to have the two-phase suction that simulated the early, light sucking that stimulates letdown, followed by the deep, nutritive sucking, but I can't say I ever noticed a change in the suction or the rate. Sure, you could adjust the speed and intensity of the suction, but only to five specific presets.
The Avent, however, has the cushions that "massage" the areolae and I think this really does help with letdown and subsequent flow. If you know anything about proper latch-on, you know that baby is supposed to get the areola in his mouth, not just the nipple, so the Avent is much closer to nature in that respect. Plus, the intensity and duration of the suction are completely customizable and can be reset at any time. So you can really mimic the quick, soft letdown sucking before moving on to the long, deep sucking. I've gone entire pumping sessions without really feeling the suction, which is just like nursing - it doesn't generally feel like the baby is trying to tear your nipple off, but that's what the Medela felt like!

So Medela only had the preset speed and suction options and no matter what setting you chose, the suck part of the pump was the same duration as the release. But because you can completely control the rate of the Avent pump, you can do a very long pull (the instructions even say to depress the handle that creates the vacuum and hold it there for 3 seconds). The first time I tried this, I was amazed! The milk poured forth, a steady stream for the whole 3 seconds! It was really satisfying to hear the plop of all that milk fall into the bottle over and over again. I can finish a pumping session in much less time than I ever could with Medela. Also, because you can reset the rate at any time, you can restimulate letdown or change to a longer pause between pulls as you get to the end. With the Medela, I used to be able to still hand-express milk after the pump had long since stopped producing any, but I seem to get every last drop with the Avent pump!

Other things to keep in mind:

- The Avent funnels have more parts to disassemble, clean, and reassemble than the Medela funnels. Factoring in cleaning and assembly, while the actual pumping takes less time, my pumping sessions are overall the same amount of time from start to finish as they were with the Medela PiS.

- The Avent funnels are easier to clean by hand. When I'm at work, I use sterilizing wipes between sessions and I can actually reach all the places milk touches with my fingers. I couldn't do this with the Medela funnels.

- The Avent pump isn't integrated into the bag and it's cord is longer. This makes it a little more portable.

- The Avent tubes are stiffer than the Medela tubes. Be sure to use the bottle stands or those tubes will pull them right over.

- Avent includes funnel covers and screw bases that seal up the funnels between uses to keep them sterile. BIG plus over Medela in my book.

- The trigger and button for adjusting suction and speed are right at your fingertips instead of on the pump housing. With Medela, when you were double pumping you had to start the pump with one hand and then try to position that funnel over the breast while it was sucking, and you also had to try to break suction while the pump was still going and both hands were full - not easy!

- The included Avent manual pump is FAR superior to the manual pump included with Medela PiS.

All in all, if you're considering Medela, do yourself a favor and get this Avent pump instead! Your breasts will thank you!

I tried the Avent bottles and they were really awful. First thing is that they create a terrible negative suction pulling-pressure while the baby is drinking, which is frustrating for the baby as it does not allow the food to flow freely through the nipple. It also causes the baby to suck air, causing severe gas! The negative suction pressure also creates a terrible noise, which is oh-so-annoying to listen to!!!!! Also, the nipples are made of a hard plastic and it started to create blisters on my son's lips from all of the hard sucking!!!! I switched to the Dr. Brown's bottles and they are much, much better, eliminating all of these problems! I tossed these bottles straight into the garbage! Don't waste your money!

My son is 7 months old and was a gas filled newborn. I used Playtex VentAire until now. Very good bottles, but when your baby is walking and pulling up on things who has time to spend on bottles. You have a bottom plastic part that has a seal that you put on then the regular top ring, nipple and cap. Lots of parts...and no time. I switched and have had no problem with leaks from the Avent bottles. I tried almost every other bottle to find one that he liked and had less parts. But as far as colic goes no clue on the Avent. "These are supposed to be the best bottles"!!!! This is what I was told, but no one told me they leaked. After my son was born, my husband and I bought a couple boxes of the different sizes of the avent bottles. I told him that everyone says these are the best bottles to use. After using them, my husband and I noticed they leaked. Not all the time, but often enough. This got very frustrating, especially at 2:00 in the morning when we were tired. We would put the cap on numerous times and the bottle would still leak. The leak was coming from the cap not the nipple. I also noticed how messy they are. My son always spit his formula out while drinking because I think the hole in the size 1 nipple is too big. His shirt would be soaked and formula would get on his neck after feeding him. We packed all the bottles away and we use the playtex ventaire. These bottles work so much better. They are not messy at all and they do not leak. I can even feed my son without putting a bib on him. I'm sure others like the avent bottles, but my experience with them was not so good. My advice for mothers, especially new ones, would be to get a couple different brands to experiment with. This way you can decide what works better for baby and you.

These breastshells helped me during pregnancy and post. During pregnancy they helped draw out my flat, and what I know now as small nipples. Post-pregnancy they helped relieve engorgement because they exert a small amount of pressure on the areola. This helped my baby latch on better b/c the breast wasn't soooo full. (I have a lot of milk). The shells catch milk really well, and if they are sterile you can even save the milk.

The other great thing about these breastshells is that they prevent sore nipples from rubbing on your bra. I'd put a little lansinoh on my nipples, then the breastshells, then the bra. Just felt better. Only precaution: Make sure you put them on with the holes on the top or else you will be soaked, and they really can't be worn outside your home. They are obvious and unattractive.

I love the warmer, but WHY WHY WHY don't they have a timer on it? WHY is there no on/off light so I can see if the warmer is still powered up? As it is now, the indicator light only illuminates when the water is heating. Once it's reached desired temperature the light turns off (that's the water temperature, not the milk/baby food temp) but it's still powered up. It will eventually burn off all the water if you dont notice. Is it on or off? I have to look in the back of the unit to see the on/off switch - annoying since I have to turn it around every time if I'm not sure if its in or off. So now I have it sitting sideways on the counter and not only does it look odd that way (since it is clearly not the front showing) but the cord gets in the way. The directions state to unplug the unit after use so it's not left on by accident. What a pain that is. Here I am, baby in one arm and trying to pull a plug out of a wall socket one handed??? ±1±: Best Buy We have been using Avent products for both of our children without problems. They are great products. I wish they had BPA-Free products earlier. I bought this two fast flow nipples because the store near us does not have BPA-Free ones. However, when I received them from mail, I did not find anywhere on the package says BPA-Free. I thought there should be somewhere says BPA-Free. Usually the BPA-Free products has a little bit yellow color than the regular ones. But the ones I received look the same as the regular ones that are not BPA-Free. So I am not sure if the products I received are the real BPA-Free nipples. on Sale!

Don't buy these -they are too small and thick, show through your bra and shirt, and don't stay in place. The sticky tape just doesn't hold. I've had many leaks with these. I also tried the Lanisoh disposable breast pads and highly recommend these - thin, highly absorbent, and large sticky tape.

Before my baby girl was born 6 months ago may friend recommended Dr. Browns bottles because they would prevent may baby from getting gas/colic. I went and purchased Dr browns' bottles which worked great it was just a bit annoying having to wash all the pieces that made the bottle work. When my baby turned 4 months I decided to switch to Avent (I had seen my cousin and sister in law use them on their babys who are a few months older than my baby girl) Why did I do that? little did I know that these bottles leak like no other. I thought leaking bottles was a thing of the past, not in 2009 with so much technology. I was wrong. My husband and I spend way too much time trying to figure out how to close it correctly and after a few tries we get it but only after 10-20 minutes (the time that takes to make 6 bottles before going to work). Sometimes I get it in the first try but others take way too long and i end up using soooo much paper towel, wash clothes, bibs, or whatever else is handy to clean the mess! I'm so disgusted with these bottles, which I think for the money I paid for all ($60.00) should be much better. I wouldn't even give them away that's how bad they are, I'm thinking about just throwing them in the garbage. My husband wants me go back to Dr. Browns and I'm all for it now I don't care about the money anymore and even if I have to wash extra pieces at least feeding time won't be a hassle. My family's sanity is priceless. Don't buy these bottles!!!!! or at least don't buy all in one shot try one first perhaps your luck is better than mine.

We have not had a problem with leaking unless we, the users, don't screw the lids on tight. Our daughter had no problem with the nipples, and we love that they are not latex. The only things we didn't do by the book, is that our daughter advanced to the next level of nipple about a month before each recommended age. But that will be individual to each child. We also love that we can turn these into baby food jars later on.

We have now used this set on our second child and we still love them. This is the same set our first child used and we have not had to replace any bottles, nipples, or pacifiers. Nothing has broken despite child #1 sometimes launching a bottle across the kitchen. And this silicone nipples and pacifiers show no signs of wear or breakdown. As with child #1, child #2 advanced to the #3-nipple a whole lot sooner than Avent's suggested age, but again every child is different. Just watch your child for cues that she's getting the milk/formula at the speed that's right for them.

I have been using these bottles since my daughter was two weeks old for my expressed milk. She took to them immediately without any issues and went right back on the breast. She is now four and a half months old and she still both breastfeeds and drinks my expressed milk in these bottles . She has never had an issue with colic, acid reflux, gas and never spits up. She might just be a lucky baby but I'm not switching the bottles just in case. I wish I had known about the converter kit for the Medela pump to use with the Avent bottles earlier. I just ordered it today. It will make it so much easier to pump right into my Avent bottles.

My wife loves it!!!!This pump takes the labor out of the manual pump. If you follow the instructions step by step and ensure you get a good seal ,it will work like a charm. Also, you can interchange the components and use it as a manual pump. I wish I would of bought this product first before I bought the manual one. I could of saved money. The only difference between the manual and this one, is the pump/motor, everything else is the same. Remember read the instructions and assemble correctly and it will work with excellent results.

I used these with my daughter and *HATED* them, that was almost 5 years ago. No matter what I tried I couldn't get them to stop leaking. Now that I have my son who's almost 5 mos, and Avent products are now made by Philips they have come a long way. I've noticed they no longer leak at the slightest over tightening like they previously did. It's also very easy to avoid the over tightening too.

After the bottles come out of the dishwasher I put the water in them so they're practically ready to go. Run the nipples under water then attach to the bottle watching the ring/nipple. The nipple will stop and grip the edge of the bottle, once this happens the nipple is on and won't leak. Once you get around to using the bottles when you will notice that when you go to tighten the nipple/ring again it will stop at that point and there are no leaks. Even my husband can get these bottles right on the first shot and he overtightens EVERYTHING!

If you're pregnant or are considering these buy one and practice assembling it. We switched to these from the Ventaire because 1) my son didn't like the textured ring on the nipple, and 2) there were to many parts to get together in a hurry.

Ever since I started using the Medela double pump, I've had a significant amount of leakage from one breast when I'm nursing the baby on the other one. I bought these to solve the problem, which they DID, but there's an even better benefit...I'm storing up extra milk with absolutely no effort!!

Each feeding I collect between 1/3 and 1/2 an ounce of milk (I have a newborn that still eats small frequent amts). Keep pouring them together in the fridge, and by the end of the day you have an extra bottle of milk to store--no extra pumping required!

This has been a lifesaver for me as a SAHM to three little ones, as I really don't have TIME to pump, but need the occasional stored bottle for when I leave baby with Daddy for a few hours.
